Isabelle Larmuseau

Curriculum

Isabelle Larmuseau obtained her master’s degree in law magna cum laude from the Ghent University Faculty of Law (1986-1991) and the Osnabrück University (Germany) School of Law (1991).

Since 1991 she has been active as lawyer in the field of environmental law. In 1997 she founded LDR, now Flanders’ largest law firm active in the field of environmental law.

Since 2015 she has been a lecturer in environmental law at the Brussels and Leuven campuses of KU Leuven.

She is founder and chair of the Flemish Environmental Law Association [Vlaamse Vereniging voor Omgevingsrecht] (VVOR). She is also the founder and editor of Tijdschrift voor Omgevingsrecht en Omgevingsbeleid (TOO) [Journal for Environmental Law and Environmental Policy].

She was a laureate of the Georges Debra moot court competition [Pleitwedstrijd Mr. Georges Debra] in Ghent in 1993, laureate of the Southern moot court competitions [Zuidelijke Pleitwedstrijden] in Breda in 1993, and was selected for the Flemish “moot court jewel” [Vlaams pleitjuweel] in 1995.

In 2008 and 2009, LDR received the Belgian Legal Award for ‘Law firm of the Year (Flanders)’. In 2012 she was named ‘Lawyer of the Year’ by Best Lawyers for the field of ‘Environmental Law’. In 2013 she received the Corporate INTL Legal Award ‘Environmental Law - Lawyer of the Year in Belgium’.
