Curriculum

Julie Vanhoenacker obtained her master’s degree in law magna cum laude from KULeuven in 2013, including an Erasmus exchange programme in Sheffield (UK). She then studied for another year in the UK, where she obtained an LL.M (MJur) from the University of Oxford. She was also awarded the Law Faculty Prize for the best exam for the course ‘Global and Comparative Environmental Law’.

At the Brussels law firms NautaDutilh and Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick, Julie worked in the public law team, where she gained experience in environmental law, energy law as well as general public law and administrative law. She then specialised further in climate and energy law at the Brussels niche law firm Blixt. Julie has been working at LDR since May 2021, where she focuses on issues in environmental law, climate law and energy law.  

She has experience with emission allowances, grid tariffs, closed distribution networks and private distribution networks, direct lines, renewable energy certificates, general and special terms and conditions of energy suppliers, energy communities and low-regulation zones in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia.

Since 2019, Julie has been editor at the Tijdschrift voor Omgevingsrecht en Omgevingsbeleid (TOO) [Journal for Environmental Law and Environmental Policy], with the climate and energy section.
