Curriculum Vitae

Karlien Vernieuwe graduated with distinction from the Master of Laws at the University of Antwerp in 2018. During her studies, she chose to specialise in public law, taking subjects including spatial planning law, environmental law and administrative law.

Her master's thesis dealt with the legal instruments and a legal sociological analysis of housing quality policy in Flanders and the Brussels Capital Region. 

Since 1 October 2018, she has been working as a lawyer at LDR, where she focuses on the matters of town and country planning. 

Since 2022, she has been part of the editorial board of the legal journal STORM (Tijdschrift voor Stedenbouw, Omgeving, Ruimtelijke ordening en Milieu of die Keure publishing house).

In 2023, Karlien Vernieuwe obtained with distinction the Master's degree in urban design and spatial planning at the University of Antwerp, in the context of which she wrote a master's thesis on the barriers to function rendering in built-up space.
