LDR Lawyers in environmental law

LDR is Flanders’ largest lawyer firm active in the field of environmental and spatial planning law, together referred to as environmental law. LDR is characterised by a specific combination of a practice-oriented and scientific approach of the most varied themes relating to environmental law. From its induction in 1997, the law firm has gained a reputation for its pragmatic approach to various types of legal proceedings and extrajudicial procedures, but also thanks to its scientific activities in close collaboration with several university institutions as well as its scientific publications, legislation projects and policy-supporting studies. Throughout the years, LDR received many awards in recognition of its groundbreaking pioneering work in the subject of environmental law.

 


 

Project highlights

Together with Möbius and the Flemish Institute for Technological Research, LDR is developing a methodology for risk analysis as a basis for updating and streamlining policy lines and enforcement priorities. They are also working on a methodology for drawing up a long-term enforcement programme, a project commissioned by the Department of Environment, Policy Development Division and Legal Support.

Together with Kenter, LDR is evaluating the scope of the Flemish EIA plan regulations in the light of case law, and analysing the impact on the existing EIA procedural framework. This project was also commissioned by the Department of Environment, the Policy Development Division and Legal Support.

LDR is advising the Working Company in the context of the complex project for the North to South Limburg connection.

On behalf of the Province of Antwerp, LDR is working together with the REBEL Group, BUUR and the University of Antwerp on the preparation of a set of instruments that includes legal-spatial instruments for setting up an equalisation mechanism to achieve core reinforcement.

Together with the University of Utrecht and Hasselt University, LDR is writing a study on cross-border cooperation for cross-border projects, a project commissioned by the State of the Netherlands, the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and the Department of Public Governance and the Chancellery.
